Software and spice

India's science is 'shining' in some areas, but it's not all rosy. We waited patiently for the chairman of one session who was apparently delayed due to 'a bad case of infrastructure', a common complaint in Delhi known to anyone who has tried to get from A to B. Come to think of it, a teleporter's not such a bad idea ' we might even get to some of our meetings on time'
The infrastructure maladie is pervasive, but the country is looking for a remedy. 'It is getting better all the time' said one taxi driver, as he took us on a fifty Rupee detour to see the construction work for the new line on the Delhi metro, 'our metro might be longer than yours soon.'
