Next month, the British Museum will open its new exhibition Shah Abbas: The Remaking of Iran.

This article recalls some of the points we made in Cultural Diplomacy about cultural exchange opening spaces for dialogue that migth not otherwise be possible.

As the cultural sector ... like many others ... faces cuts, it's a reminder of what we risk losing unless we take the opportunity of funding threats to think seriously about why cultural provision is important and how it can best be supported and maintained in the current climate.
