Just read an interesting piece on the psychological aspects of resilience in the Harvard Business Review. The author, Diane L. Coutu suggests that resilient people (as well as businesses) are those with the following three characteristics:
1. The ability to accept the reality of a situation. 2. The ability to find meaning, even when enduring hardship or a crisis. 3. A capacity to improvise.

The psychologists view of resilience is interesting, and I have seen some interesting ideas where they attempt to scale their view to groups & communities. Not sure how successful this is. Our view - www.resilientfutures.org - sees resilience as a critical piece of thinking, process and practice at multiple scales. We apply it to a variety of applications like corp strategy, urban planning, economic development, environmental management, and leadership training. Would love to share some ideas with you guys.
