Nudging the Nation: How can government and business work together to encourage long-term savings behaviour?
- When:
- 27th September 2011, 08:00AM
- Where:
- The ACC, Concourse Fringe Room 3
Demos and Friends Life are proud to present a panel event at the Labour Party Conference that will consider how government and business can together encourage a savings culture in a time of austerity. We are delighted to be joined by:
Angela Eagle MP, Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury
Andrea Finney, Senior Research Fellow, Personal Finance Research Centre
Martin Palmer, Head of Marketing, Friends Life
Otto Thoresen, Director General, Association of British Insurers
At a time where indebtedness and short-term financial behaviours are a socially accepted norm, progress towards instilling a savings culture has been limited. This event will examine what different roles and policy levers are available to the savings industry and government respectively, and how the two can work together in encouraging positive savings behaviour.
