Demos has identified the relationship between paid and unpaid work as the new frontier of the welfare state. Men and women alike are expressing a desire to spend more time with their families, yet patterns of work continue to hold people back from this aspiration. What do these changing patterns mean for parents and women in particular? How should the government intervene to reflect the changing nature of work and family life? And what to organizations need to do to do to remain productive while encouraging a happy workforce? These issues that were once considered private family matters are now very much part of the public domain – what are the next steps for policy to reflect this change?
Our speakers will address these questions before what will no doubt be an interesting and lively discussion.
