National Treasure reviews the recent history of the Treasury, its relationship with other departments and Parliament, and how it taxes and spends. The pamphlet makes recommendations that will improve the design, scrutiny and implementation of Britain's economic policy.

Co-author of the pamphlet and Director of Demos, Kitty Ussher, will comment on key findings and recommendations. Responding to this will be a panel, comprised of Sir Nicholas Macpherson KCB, Permanent Secretary to the Treasury and Paul Johnson, Director of the Institute of Fiscal Studies, who wrote the pamphlet's preface. Chris Giles of the Financial Times will chair the discussion.

The event will took place at 10 am on Tuesday 8 March at Demos, Magdalen House, 136 Tooley Street, London, SE1 2TU.
