Managing Up
- When:
- 14th May 2012, 01:00PM
- Where:
- Demos
We are delighted to be joined by Sarah Veale, Head of Equality and Employment Rights, Trades Union Congress; Sean Taggart, UK Commission for Employment and Skills; and Neil Morrison, Director of HR, Random House. The event will be attended by policy‐makers, practitioners and opinion‐formers and shall seek to discuss whether the roles of professional development and management training in supporting growth are being sufficiently explored. We will consider whether, as ‘red tape’ is cut, good management will become more central than ever to promoting good business. We hope that this will be an expert and detailed conversation on the challenges and tensions in this important policy area.
The overall aim of this project is to build on Demos’ work on the future of the workplace and to develop a stronger understanding of the emerging landscape of British working lives. We will follow our event series with an essay collection, to be published in July 2012, on the challenges for working Britain.
The event will take place on Monday 14 May from 1:00pm to 2:00pm at Demos’ Offices on the Third Floor, Magdalen House, 136 Tooley Street, London SE1 2TU. Click here for a map. This event is private, if you would like to attend please e-mail seminars@demos.co.uk or call 0207 367 6331 with any access enquiries. This event will take place under strict Chatham House rule.
