In Rt Hon Liam Byrne MP's second speech to mark the 70th anniversary of the Beveridge Report, he will argue that the cardinal principle of universal provision enshrined in the report remains as important today as in 1942.

The Shadow Secretary of State for Work and Pensions will state that the current government's welfare reforms, especially disability policy, risk damaging not renewing the foundation stone of one of the greatest advances in public policy since World War Two. 

The speech will take place on Wednesday 16th May from 1:30pm to 2:30pm in Westminster.
