How far can individual budgets go?

26 Nov

A CentreForum and Demos joint seminar

Date and time:
Monday, 26th November 2007 at 6:00pm
Location:
1 Queen Anne's Gate Conference Centre, Westminster, SW1H 9BT

Can the welfare state be revolutionised through the use of individual budgets?  This transformation - making people participants in designing and delivering services – has already started in social care, where individual budgets are allowing people to take control of services they receive. To what extent does it have the potential to energise the provision of other public services?

At a joint CentreForum/Demos seminar, Liberal Democrat Shadow Secretary of State for Health Norman Lamb MP and Demos Associate Charles Leadbeater will discuss the issues raised and preview a major Demos report on participative public services, led by Charles Leadbeater, which will be published and formally launched at the Making Public Services Personal conference in January 2008.
