I always find these emails interesting, partly because most of them have an in-built mechanism for discouraging sympathy with their victims. Often, the 'money' involved comes from dubious sources - the widow of General Sani Abacha and Idi Amin's sister have both been in touch with me on several occassions. So to fall for the scam, you have to be a) very greedy, b) very gullible, and c) willing to steal blood money from the third world.

I'd imagine that the police wouldn't invest as much time in helping wannabe money-launderers as they might kindly old grannies sold a dodgy time-share...
