Digital democracy

10:02am Friday, 19th September 2003

Interesting paper on internet politics called Net Nomination which is framed as memo to Democrat candidates. Argues that they should make their website 'the hub of their entire campaign' by combining databases and developing a CRM function - that's constituent relationship management, folks.

Sort of related to digital democracy... An interesting Ford Foundation report came out over the summer on using Community Technology Centres (CTCs) to help bridge the digital divide in poorer parts of large US cities. It can be downloaded as a pdf here . The idea now seems to have been taken up by the UN task force on ICT as a key feature of the proposed Global eSchools Initiative (GeSCI) due to be launched in Geneva in December.
