Nanotechnology - the science of small things - promises to be one of the defining technologies of the 21st Century. But what will it mean for society and the environment? And how can public engagement in deciding the direction of research be moved 'upstream'?

at 8:44am on Friday, 25th February 2005Today, the government response to the Royal Society and Royal Academy of Engineering report (July 2004) was announced in a low-key event at the Science Museum. (The exhibit there on nanotechnologies just launched; looks like fun.) The response mentions a few nanotechnology dialogue projects, one of which is the ESRC funded Demos/Lancaster project on Nanotechnology and Sustainability.
