Like many budding artists, Sophie is at a stage in her career when a studio is too expensive to rent and, while her art work is bought by people as far a way as Dubai, living is still pretty tough. But thanks to a novel agreement with a company based near Oxford Street, Sophie is able to have a room in their offices (admittedly stacked to the ceiling with boxes, files, and last year’s headed paper) and paint for free. The only catch- and there is only one –is that Sophie helps the business’ creativity department – something that she is only too happy to do. It’s a neat way of helping a young artist build a business, and the company benefits from her creative input. (Her art work also gets displayed in reception).
I am struggling to find a description of this relationship – it feels much more than just CSR, and less formal then mentoring - if you have an idea, or another example of this then get in touch – hello@demos.co.uk
