How do we make the big conversation global?
- Date and time:
- Saturday, 9th June 2007 at 11:15am
- Location:
- Westminster Central Hall, Storey's Gate, London, SW1H 9NH
Demos will be hosting a breakout session at the Compass conference on June 9th.
This year's conference is entitled 'Shaping Our Global World', and it will debate not whether we globalise but how? Technology makes globalisation inevitable and provides a platform on which the centre-left can make the whole planet, and not just the Western world, more equal, democratic and sustainable.
The conference will have over 1500 people in attendance and 70 major speakers.
Demos' session will ask how we we make the big conversation global. At a time when foreign policy has never been more important, and when we are increasingly recognising the seamless links between decisions at home and abroad, we want discuss how to take principles of engagement, protest, participation and so on from the local and national levels to the global level. Speakers will include Salma Yaqoob (Respect), Paul Hilder (AVAAZ.org), and the discussion will be chaired by Rachel Briggs (Demos).
If you are already coming to the conference, we hope to see you at the session. If not go to www.compassonline.org.uk/conference.
