10 Jul
Launching a new Demos collection
- Date and time:
- Tuesday, 10th July 2007 at 8:30am
- Location:
- British Film Institute, Belvedere Road, Southbank, Waterloo, London, SE1 8XT
On July 10th Demos will launch its latest collection:
John Healey MP, Minister of State, Department for Communities and Local Government
Paul Coen, Chief Executive of the Local Government Association
Sophia Parker, Demos associate
Mark Armstrong, Public Sector Director, HP
From climate change to social care, innovation will be critical to meeting the public service challenges of the future. But traditional approaches to generating new ideas will not be enough. Rather than focusing on processes and pipelines, policymakers and service deliverers needs to harness the potential of citizens to be innovators in their own right.
In this collection of essays, Demos argues that the public sector must embrace new forms of 'user-driven innovation' that use the needs and potential of service users as the spur to radical service redesign. Contributors including Sir David Varney, Paul Coen and Geoff Mulgan argue that localism, individual empowerment and more imaginative approaches to making policy will be critical to the next stage of reform.
Led by an expert panel, this promises to be a fascinating and important discussion. If you would like to attend please write to innovation@demos.co.uk.
Breakfast will be provided at the event.
