Howard Reed is Director of the economic research consultancy Landman Economics, which specialises in complex econometric modelling work and policy analysis. Howard specialises in econometric modelling including impact analysis, cost-benefit analysis and microsimulation modelling.
His current and recent projects include an investigation of the welfare benefits from increasing tobacco taxation (for ASH) and a model of the UK tax and benefit system which allows researchers to analyse the distributional effects of taxes on wealth and transfers of wealth for the first time (funded by the Nuffield Foundation).
Howard's previous employment before forming Landman Economics in 2008 includes the Institute for Fiscal Studies (where he was responsible for the TAXBEN microsimulation model) and the Institute for Public Policy Research (where he led a project estimating the impact of immigration on wages and employment levels in the UK.)
Recent Demos research projects which have benefited from his expertise include Reinventing Venture Capital, Building Character and Recapitalising the Poor.
This project investigates the role the venture capital industry - and businesses funded by venture capital - can play in building a fairer, greener and more innovative UK.
