Daniel Leighton was the Head of the Public Interest Programme at Demos. He currently works for Lord Glasman.
Daniel joined Demos in June 2009. Prior to that he was a researcher for the Young Foundation, and carried out research for the Power Inquiry’s investigation into the causes and remedies for popular disengagement with formal politics. He also worked for a political communications consultancy and was an associate partner with policy research consultancy Research Republic.
Daniel is co-editor, with Stuart White, of Building a Citizen Society in 2008, a collection of pieces on applying Civic Republican thought to policy issues. He is also Contributing Editor for the Social Democratic Journal, where he has edited themed issues on consumerism, citizenship and the new commons. He is particularly interested in exploring the application of republican political philosophy to public policy, democratic reform and the workplace.
Daniel holds a degree in politics from the University of Leeds.
