Yesterday Niamh and I launched Demos’s latest pamphlet, Recruitment 2020: How Recruitment is Changing and Why it Matters. The pamphlet, as more perceptive readers may have already guessed, looks at the future of the recruitment industry. It argues that recruitment is caught up in some of the key public policy issues of our time – business success, job satisfaction, equality, integration and privacy.
The pamphlet involves a discussion of the changes that we expect to see through the market, it suggests ways to make the market work more effectively – and it explores the social challenges that go beyond what the market can deliver alone.
We close with some recommendations for, job seekers, recruiters and policy-makers, including a recommendation on how government can a play a role in helping support greater diversity in the workplace. Have a read of the pamphlet here and let us know what you think.
Update: have a read of my article on the Guardian's comment site, which expands on the argument about diversity and business.
