Prior to Demos, Gerard studied English at Cambridge, where he was involved in student journalism and helped to edit The Cambridge Literary Review.

He has also written for The Cambridge Literary Review, Eulogy Magazine and The Tab.

He is interested in culture, politics and how the two intersect with one another.
