James is leading on the Centre's work on worklessness and social housing in London.

James has been working on the relationship between housing and labour market policy for a number of years and has been a regular commentator on housing policy in local and national media.

Prior to joining Centre for London James, was a Senior Research Fellow at the Fabian Society, which he joined shortly after completing a PhD in political theory at the London School of Economics. He maintains an interest in political theory and is particularly interested in the values that underpin different models of welfare provision.
