- Network Logic Our new collection, Network Logic, is now available. We've put the whole thing up but it's quite a big file so you can also download individual chapters. Let us know what you think. from : paulmiller 21st April 2004
- Jake 2.0 Every now and then Demos pamphlets strike a chord in ways we can't predict. System Failure by Demos associate Jake Chapman is one of those. It never really had any big splash media coverage, it just spread by word of mouth from civil servant to civil servant until we realised we'd run out of copies. So we've brought out a second edition which includes a new preface by Jake reflecting on the experience of becoming something of a guru in Whitehall. from : paulmiller 19th May 2004
- Disablism Disablism - a new Demos report - is out today to coincide with the launch of Scope's Time to Get Equal campaign. Disablism isn't a word you'll find in the dictionary, but it was something that all the disabled people we spoke to and worked with on the project recognised very strongly as part of their experience. There's a good piece on BBC News Online about the launch and the report. Also a piece in the Scotsman about David Blunkett's speech at the launch, and a piece in the Guardian which... from : paulmiller 26th May 2004
- Disorganisation launch Disorganisation was launched this morning at the very zen Energy Clinic in London. Many thanks to the speakers (Elizabeth Coffey, John Knell, Sir Bill Morris and Mike Newnham) and people who came along for what I thought was a really interesting discussion. I liked Bill Morris' classification of the differences of applying disorganisation to brownfield (existing) and greenfield (start-up) organisations. Also The Telegraph covered the report this morning. from : paulmiller 25th November 2004
- Meet the Pro-Ams Our new report The Pro-Am Revolution is out today and has been picked up by The Independent, The Telegraph and The Times among others. My favourite headline is probably 'The anoraks shall inherit the earth'.We also did the rounds of BBC local radio stations this morning and got a ringing endorsement from Anne Diamond on BBC Oxford who thought it was all a 'fabulous idea'. My life's work is complete. from : paulmiller 29th November 2004
- Do you want source with that? Our long fascination with open source continues with a new report out tomorrow, jointly published with the Young Foundation. It's called Wide Open: open source methods and their future potential, and asks whether the success of open source in creating software such as Linux and Mozilla could be mirrored in other areas such as public policy. I'll leave you to read the piece and make up your own mind, but one idea I like is for an Open Commission for Accuracy in the Media (OCOM) to keep track... from : paulmiller 19th April 2005
- We've been slashdotted... Wide Open caught the eye of Slashdot which is great... except it means our webserver might be a bit slow if you're trying to download thh pamphlet. from : paulmiller 21st April 2005
- Independent Living We launched a new report called Independent Living yesterday. It was covered by the BBC, Guardian and Daily Mail among others. Sarah also wrote a Guardian comment piece (photo courtesy of our own Charlie Tims).New disability minister Anne McGuire gave her first proper speech since taking the job at the launch event. We'll try and get hold of some of the speeches and post them here as there were some very good ones. The report follows on from our Disablism report of last year and argues that the... from : paulmiller 27th May 2005
