Toby studied history at the University of Southampton before training as a journalist and eventually ending up as a parliamentary researcher to a prominent Labour MP.

His main research interests are around civil society and civic duty, and creating more of a stakeholder society. He also has a keen interest in looking at integration across the UK of different ethnic communities.
