Demos statement on Finns party inaccurate coverage

[London, England]

The British think tank Demos seeks to clarify inaccurate reports of 'an unpublished study' by a British think tank, which allegedly links the Finns party to violence.

This is an entirely inaccurate description of work currently being undertaken by Demos and the findings of the work, and is not based on the report which has yet to be published or circulated. Demos has not and does not possess research that links the Finns party to violence.

Demos understands that the source of the stories came from a private briefing during which no link between the Finns party and violence was made. Allegations about the research findings had not been verified or checked with Demos.

Demos would also like to highlight that the British-based think tank has no formal relationship with Demos Helsinki and this research is not part of Demos Helsinki’s work.

Demos is currently carrying out research into online populism in Europe, the results of which will be published later this year.
