Transatlantic Futures
As part of the British Council's inaugural TN2020 summit we are running a two day scenario planning workshop on the future of transatlantic relations.
The TN2020 summit will be jointly hosted by Northern Ireland and Ireland, between the 28th September and the 3rd October 2008. Approximately 100 participants will come together for a week of inspiring and memorable visits and debates.
What will the transatlantic relationship look like in the future? Over the course of two days we will explore the myriad of trends and factors that will shape and influence the transatlantic relationship in the future.
This won't be an exercise in trying to predict the future. The sheer number of factors that shape the future, and the complex way they interact, makes such a task impossible. It only takes one disruptive new technological advance, an unforeseeable war, or a natural disaster, and even the best-laid plans can be rendered useless.
The point of scenario planning is to help us identify key trends and drivers, and combine them in such a way that they tell effective stories about the future and help us plan to meet its uncertainty.
