Mapping science in China is of interest not only to us, but to the Chinese as well. We've talked to one of the 2 organisations here which works on bibliometrics - The Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China (ISTIC). Last year, when they published their rankings of Chinese universities, over 1,000 people attended the press conference. This is a first - for me at least - I'm posting this from 35,000 feet above Afghanistan.
