Demos Publication | The Long Game: How regulators and companies can both win
Argues that growing complexity means that a new model of regulation will be needed in the years to come.

Ewart Keep article: State control of the English education and training systemplaying...
Only an abstract here, but the article is worth a read.

The blogging regulator
Michael Powell, The Chairman of the FCC (equivalent to our Ofcom), has started blogging to try and get around the lobbyists in Washington and speak directly to techies in Silicon Valley. It wasn't a recommendation in The Long Game, but probably should have been.[via Wired News]

It also suggests that the current preoccupation with a...

Interview with a censor
Just come across a really interesting interview with Norwegian film censor Elisabeth Staksrud (via corante.com) who says, "About two weeks ago, we lifted a ban on all mainstream movies that had been forbidden or cut. That was for our 90-year anniversary. How's that for a birthday gift?" But the even more interesting stuff is on internet regulation. Staksrud is also coordinator for the SAFT program, a government-managed Internet project funded by the European Commission. The idea is to come up...
