Claudia is Chief Executive of Demos. Her primary research interests are:
- health and social care and the impact of demographic change
- housing, in particular older people’s housing and planning
- the measurement and definition of poverty and the relationship with disadvantage and material deprivation
- disability rights and the impact of welfare reform
Claudia oversees the operational governance of Demos and shapes the organisation’s research strategy with the Demos Trustees. She has authored nearly 30 Demos publications, including the flagship study Poverty in Perspective and also led the secretariat for Demos’ Commission on Residential Care. She regularly appears in press and broadcast to discuss her areas of policy interest as a spokesperson for Demos.
Before joining Demos in 2009, Claudia was Head of Policy and Research at the Resolution Foundation. Previously she spent 5 years at the Social Market Foundation as a research fellow working on early years policy, social mobility and education reform, and was seconded to the Prime Minister’s strategy unit to work on the Education and Inspection Bill.
